Man stabbed in Chinatown, police say; suspect arrested
A person was stabbed repeatedly whereas strolling in Chinatown this week in what seems to be a random assault, Los Angeles police stated.
William Yu, 46, was strolling close to the intersection of Alpine Street and Broadway on Wednesday afternoon when he was approached by the assailant, police stated. Yu was stabbed within the head and neck, together with lacerations to his groin and abdomen, they stated.
Yu’s brother David Yu wrote in a social media publish in regards to the assault: “As people called police, nobody helped to intervene. … My brother was in the fight for his life.”
Timothy Mears, 50, was arrested on the scene. According to jail data, his bail was set at $100,000.
